The CNNP "Yellow Mark" 1998 is a benchmark of classic, well-aged raw (sheng) Puerh from the late 90s era. Representing the China National Native Produce & Animal By-Products Import & Export Corporation (CNNP), this tea has achieved a state of mature harmony and soft elegance through decades of careful dry storage. This method has preserved its pure aroma and rounded taste, avoiding the dampness or excessive heaviness sometimes found in wetter storage conditions.
The dry leaf is dark and dense, with an aroma of dried fruits and warm, aged wood. The liquor is a deep, clear amber with a thick, substantial texture. The flavor is soft, rounded, and supremely balanced, unfolding with notes of prune, fig, aged timber, and a light natural sweetness. The finish reveals a delicate camphor coolness and a subtle mineral note, hallmarks that underscore the tea's age and noble lineage.
The cha qi (tea energy) is profoundly meditative. It quickly calms mental chatter, creating a state of deep internal silence and a gentle, trance-like focus. Its energy penetrates deeply, stabilizes attention, endures for a long duration, and remains exceptionally even and pure. This tea is the perfect catalyst for mindfulness practices, deep tea sessions, evening repose, or any activity requiring sustained, tranquil concentration.
Brewing Recommendation for Meditation:
  • Water Temperature: 95–100 °C (203–212 °F)
  • Tea Amount: 5-6 grams per 100-120 ml (a small Yixing pot is highly recommended)
  • Steeping Time: Start with a quick rinse. First infusion: 10-15 seconds. This is a tea of great stamina, capable of yielding 15+ nuanced infusions. Gradually extend the steeping time and observe the elegant transformation from fruity-woody notes to deep, cooling mineral resonance.
A timeless classic for the contemplative drinker.
